Part work, Baked and Delicious magazine has been a big hit on Facebook with 14,000 people who “like” it, several thousand of whom declared their love before copies were on sale.
The first issue costs 99p, the second £2.99 and subsequent issues are £4.99. It claims to be “packed with international classics and traditional favourites” and that it “brings the very best of baking to today’s cooks.” As a further sweetener, each issue comes with a piece of colourful silicone bakeware. Subscribers also get “free” gifts such as electronic kitchen scales, cake tins, cake slices and the all important binder.
I’ve been amazed how many people have raved about this magazine in other blog reviews, to the point I’m wondering if they haven’t given it much thought or feel uncomfortable calling it a dud.
My Baked and Delicious Magazine REVIEW
We call spades spades here. My impression after reviewing issue one of Baked and Delicious was that it is:
- Flimsy at fewer than 30 pages per issue
- Cheap with pound shop quality bakeware gifts
- Overpriced for such a short magazine even bearing in mind the “free” gift
- Dated with 1980s yellow tinged photography
- Dreary with graphics that look like they were created in MS Word
- Unsophisticated with uninspiring food styling
- Badly edited with inconsistent layout and typos
On the plus side, the Gateaux St Honore recipe was the most useful but you’d do better to spend your cash on some generic baking books instead of doggedly committing to this week after week. For around £7.99 you can easily pick up little hardback baking books in the supermarket and discount book stores. You can add to your bakeware collection as necessary.

Baked and Delicious has been out a while now but new subscribers get to buy back copies. Sixty issues are planned. If you want to back out, I’m informed you can cancel subscriptions at any time.

KIMMI – Sorry dont agree with all the negatitity thats being said, I LOVE this magazine, and cant wait for the next one to come out. I think its BRILLIANT. and yes I do use the recipes.
I’ve read some of the people’s replies, claiming that they have had bad experiences when subscribing and about how their silicone bakeware has broken and is rubbish but I couldn’t disagree more. I have subscribed to the magazine and have received all my issues on time as well as the gifts that go with them. Yes, the magazine is a bit pricey but to be honest you get 10 recipes as well as some silicone baking equipment, which is not bad quality at all and because it’s silicone it doesn’t take up too much space (which was a concern of mine). As for customer services, I contacted them once and they responded within a few days.
The only problem I think, is the binders that they gave were pretty rubbish but you can simply opt out of receiving them.
I have been a subscriber since the beginning. I received all of the free gifts with no problem. All of my issues of the magazine and the special issues for Christmas, Easter and Halloween. I have had no problems whatsoever. Yes I may not try all of the recipes but I enjoy looking through the magazine and now I have lovely folders full of recipes and lots and lots of bakeware. I’m sorry that hardly anyone else seems to be pleased with the magazine, but I personally love it.
I likewise have been a subscriber since the beginning. I don’t know why people dislike this magazine, I find it easy to follow and the results are delicious. The bakeware is of good quality and I have received the magazine’s, bakewear and other gifts on time. My family and I love this magazine and it has even prompted my son to take up baking.
sue, this is the best ever collection i have had ,the recipes are fantastic so say my friends and family and silicone items they are great value and i will continue withe next issues after these 60 or so books even after i have gone my family will have the pleasure of it all so yes 5***** rating.
